It has been a while since I posted. Work and life have been taking up a bit too much time lately. Luckily work and life has not stopped me from drinking great wines, it also helps to have generous friends.
As you will see Dec 2018 was a good month, for me at least, for wine. How was your December?
2018 Majella Vintage Tasting – Majella GPL68
Majella GPL68 2014 is the first release of a new wine from Majella Wines and we were apparently the first in Singapore to taste it. The wine was added as a surprise by Proj Lynn to Wine Exchange Asia‘s 2018 Majella Vintage Tasting at New Ubin Seafood @ Chijmes.
Tasting the Majella GPL68 with Ros and Prof Lynn added to the occasion, everyone at the dinner appreciated you sharing it with us.
For moreIn 1968 George Patrick Lynn, patriarch of the Lynn family, allowed his sons Brian and Anthony to plant vines on the the family’s Coonawarra property “Majella”
Rear label of the Majella GPL68
The vineyard prospered, more vines were planted and eventually a winery was built and Majella Wines as we now know it was established
George passed away in 1976 aged only 50, but in his memory we are proud to present this wine, the Majella “GPL68”, as a fine example of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon at its very best.
2018 Majella Vintage Tasting – Majella The Malleea
A flight of Majella The Malleea vintage was the second set of wines that we tasted as a part of the Wine Exchange Asia 2018 Majella Vintage Tasting at New Ubin Seafood @ Chijmes.
Majella the Malleea
“Malleea” is an Aboriginal term that means “green paddock”.
The first vintage of the Malleea was produced in 1996. The Mallea is only produced when there are ideal growing conditions that will produce a premium quality wine.
Majella only use the finest parcels of fruit from their oldest vines, which, if you missed it in my post about Majella Cabernet Sauvignon, were first planted in 1968.
2018 Majella Vintage Tasting – Majella Cabernet Sauvignon
A flight of 6 different vintages of Majella Cabernet Sauvignon was the first flight of the 2018 Majella Vintage Tasting at New Ubin Seafood @ Chijmes. Another great night hosted by Robert Rees of Wine Exchange Asia
Majella Wines
Majella is one of the first wineries in Australia that I started to actively follow, mainly because of Brian “Prof” Lynn, one of the founders of Majella, who always has a smile on his face and usually with a glass of wine in his hand, ready to share a bottle and a story or six. The Majella stand at a Wine Show is always one of the first, if not the first, on my list to visit.
Prof is also the cause of my main problem in Singapore, an amazing collection of friends who like to share at least a magnum of high quality booze each time we meet. A nice problem to have, thanks Prof.

As my Tuk Tuk Safari was so much fun it made sense to book another one, this one tailored for me by Duckman. My own Colombo Tuk Tuk Adventure courtesy of Tuk Tuk Safari.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did, Duckman did a great job with picking out places I would like to visit and even arranged for one of his neighbours to take us out on a boat trip and for his wife to cook lunch.
