Whilst in Vancouver I my hosts, Lou and Ken, decided it was time to check out their friends’ bar, Fet’s Whisky Kitchen. I am glad that they did as if you like a wee dram or six, Fet’s is the place to visit. They have been in business for around 30 years and, as per their website, they LOVE Whisky and even cook with it!
As we visited Fet’s after dining at the Blue Water Cafe we were already full, but there is always room for a Whisky!
“Life is good at The Kitchen”
Fet’s Whisky Kitchen
Most (if not all) of the furniture and fittings in The Kitchen have been hand crafted by Eric who, along with his wife Allura, run the place.
A nice touch was the use of empty Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottles as lamp shades.
The Malt Whiskey Society
From a Whisky perspective they have a few, nearly 800 from over 100 distilleries, including over 200 cask strength single barrel Scotch Whiskies bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Fet’s Whisky Kitchen is also one of the few The Scotch Malt Whisky Society partner bars.
Whisky Taste Profiles
Allura and Eric also create their own taste profiles for all of the Whisky that they sell, which helps to decide which of the 800 odd scotches to try!! They use the same Taste Profiles as The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, but the profiles chosen for each Whisky are their own, according to Eric so far there have been only two Whiskies where Eric’s and Allura’s proiles have differed to The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

They also provide tasting notes for each The Scotch Malt Whisky Society they offer. Looks like they will need to start a second volume.
Next visit to Vancouver I am going to spend a LOT more time exploring Fet’s, will need a couple of friends to “help” so Lou and Ken you are the most appropriate choice, anyone else interested in joining us?
IMHO Fet’s Whisky Kitchen is nearly worth the trip to Vancouver by itself! Have to try their Southern Fried Chicken with whisky chicken gravy, Makers Mac’n Cheese and our organic steak with bourbon demi. CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!
Cheers!
