The main reason I visited Dallas Texas was not to sight see but to catch up with a couple of friends, Annie and Dighton. As we all like a good meal and a drink or two, a dinner was in order. The place chosen by my hosts was Cafe Pacific in Highland Park.
Cafe Pacific has been around for around 35 years and is considered a Dallas institution, according to themselves. It definitely had the feel of an upscale neighborhood restaurant. Whilst it is not exactly what I would call a casual restaurant, in Singapore that means drinking shorts and a shirt, covered footwear optional, Cafe Pacific is fairly relaxed.
The restaurant is known for its Seafood and Steak and impeccable service, the wait staff are all dressed in formal white servers jackets, dark pants and a black tie, nice touch. They have an interesting wine list, although I had no idea about most of the wines on the list, luckily for me Dighton knew a good red on the list.
The Food
Appetizers
I have never had Maine Oysters before so had to give them a try, and was not disappointed, although I still prefer Coffin Bay Oysters from Australia as they have more flavour and are usually larger. Would have no issue having them again.
Main Course
Short Smoked Salmon with Match Stick Potatoes, Sesame Scented Spinach & Pommery Aioli
Both dishes were excellent, the right mix of textures and flavours. Whilst these dishes were excellent the dessert was …..
Dessert
Pecan Ball – Vanilla Ice Cream, Pecans and Fudge Sauce
WoW, this was awesome, one serve was enough for the three of us. Great presentation and flavour combination. This dish is definitely a good enough reason to visit Cafe Pacific by itself.
The Wine
Wrap Up
What more can one ask for, great food, wine and even better company. Cafe Pacific is worth a visit, will return if I get the chance.
Cheers!
Next up Americano Dallas.
