Emirates EK133 – Dubai to Moscow 3640 kms
The next leg of my Trans Siberian Trek is Dubai to Moscow on EK133, another Emirates Boeing 777-300ER in First Class, this time in seat 1A. Another old school boarding via the stairs.
It was a bit hazy in Dubai .
First up was a glass of 2006 Dom Pérignon Rose. Loved it, so did not say no when I was offered another glass. 4.5 out of 5
Menu
Canapés
In partnership with Dom Pérignon chef Marco Fadiga, we present small bites inspired by the region
Grilled venison with cranberries
Smoked Scottish salmon with chives and avocado cream
Bleu d’Auvergne on gingerbread with spiced apricot chutney
Appetisers
Caviar
Presented with a traditional selection of finely chopped onion,
grated egg, sour cream and lemon, served with melba toast and blinis
I went for the Caviar. Is there a better way to start a flight to Moscow than with Caviar and Dom?
Lentil Soup
Served with Arabic bread croûtons
Chicken and Lemongrass Consommé
With rice vermicelli and vegetable julienne
Traditional Arabic Mezze
A spread of local savoury dishes including houmous, muhammara, loubieh bil zeit, shanklish salad, moutabel, tabouleh, stuffed vine leaves and cheese kibbeh with walnuts
Selection of Smoked Fish
Tuna pastrami, salmon, scallop and halibut, served on quinoa salad with horseradish cream
My next course was the smoked fish. WoW, great combination, have never had Tuna Pastrami before, the smoked scallop was the star!
Sundried Tomato Crusted Chicken
Sliced and served chilled with kohlrabi and green papaya salad
Seasonal Salad
We can create a salad of your choice with toppings including veal rashers, shredded carrot, cherry tomatoes and bocconcini, dressed with creamy French vinaigrette or olive oil with balsamic vinegar, or to make your salad a light meal we can add grilled salmon or chicken schnitzel

Served with steamed carrots, green beans and horseradish mash
Chicken Cutlets
Russian-style minced chicken patties, served with vegetable napoli, sour cream and crushed potatoes
Seafood Machbous

For my main course I had the Seafood Machbous. The aroma of spices as the plate was served was amazing, really enjoyed this as well.

Prawn Bisque
Grilled prawns served with shellfish sauce and wild rice with cardamom and citrus zest

flavoured with warm, spicy chilli pepper
Yarra Valley Dairy Marinated Feta
Creamy and salty cow’s milk cheese, marinated in garlic, fresh thyme,
bay leaves, peppercorns and olive oil
A great meal made even better by the awesome service of the EK133 crew.
The Wine
With the Smoked Fish I had two wines
Started with the August Kesseler Lorcher Schlossberg Riesling Alte Reben 2016, which was not bad, a 3.5 out of 5
The second wine was the Cervaro della Sala 2016, a better match for the smoked fish. Gave this a 4 out of 5
With my main course I had the Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 1998. Great drop, gave it a 4 out of 5
To round of the wines I finished with a Vin de Constance Klein Constantia 2013. Just awesome, another 4 out of 5
Dubai to Moscow on EK133
Really enjoyed this flight, the crew were attentive and friendly and never seemed rushed like on EK655, which I put down to the 1 hour plus of turbulence where the crew were also required to buckle up. You really can’t go wrong in Emirates First Class.
Next up is Moscow and dinner at the White Rabbit Chef’s Table.
Will be posting my full wine reviews shortly.

Noted the plug for Emirates.
Does not hurt, but does not help much either 🙂
